THE WORLD CUP 2014 AND BRAZILIAN SOCIOBIODIVERSITY WILL BE PRESENT IN NUREMBERG FEBRUARY 15 AND 16, 2011<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Feburary 15<\/strong><\/span> will be the Seminar promoted by the Ministry of Agrarian Development at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Nuremberg, where representaives from Brazilian Government, GTZ, Organics Brasil and Planeta Organico will speak about business and partnership opportunites.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

February 16<\/span>,<\/strong> at BioFach Conference, Prag Room, at 3 pm, Planeta Org\u00e2nico will present the initiatives that Brasil will promote before, during and after the World Cup 2014 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Agrarian Development Ministry and Planeta Org\u00e2nico will hold a Seminar in Nuremberg on February 15, 2011 \u2013 one day before the opening of BioFach \u2013 highlighting the presence of Brazilian family agriculture in the 2014 World Cup<\/strong><\/p>\n

For the second year running, on the eve of the opening of the BioFach \u2013 <\/strong>the world\u2019s largest fair for organic products \u2013 a Seminar showing the growth of Brazilian family agriculture in the domestic and international organic markets will be held in Nuremberg. The highlight will be the presence of family agriculture in the 2014 World Soccer Cup events.<\/p>\n

The theme of the Seminar\u2019s opening panel will be Opportunities for the Sustainable World in the 2014 World Cup<\/span>, when Arnoldo Campos, Director for Income Generation and Added Value at the Family Agriculture Department, will highlight the opportunities for partnerships with the private sector, especially with the \u201cRural Brazil Talents\u201d project.<\/p>\n

Socio-biodiversity: a Brazilian concept<\/span>, will also be a subject of this Seminar in Nuremberg; and Julio PInho, Agro-extractive Activities Manager at the Ministry of the Environment, will give a presentation on the National Plan for the Promotion of Socio-biodiversity Product Chains (\u201cPNPSB\u201d), whose aim is to develop integrated actions for the promotion and strengthening of socio-biodiversity product chains within the construction of sustainable markets. Partnerships with international players committed to sustainability will be welcome

\nDuring this seminar, the recently created entity ABRABIO (Brazilian Association for Organic, Agro-ecological and Agro-extractive Family Agriculture) will be presented; its president, Iran Trentim, will speak about the new association\u2019s plans for the next few years. At present, Abrabio comprises 12,000 families in the rural areas of 18 Brazilian states, with annual sales of approximately R$ 25 million. \u201cOur goal is to expand, and to jump from 52 associated enterprises to 200 in the course of 2011\u201d, Trentim declared.<\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Aldemar Batista, General Coordinator for Economic Diversification, Support for Agro-industry and Support for Marketing in the Family Agriculture segment, will also be present at this Seminar in Nuremberg, presenting the Basic Legislation, Public Policies, Challenges and Opportunities.<\/p>\n

Maria Beatriz Martins Costa, executive director of Planeta Org\u00e2nico, will speak about the added value of family farming in Brazil.<\/p>\n

Family farming supplies around 70% of the food consumed in Brazil; <\/strong>however, this participation is practically imperceptible to consumers<\/strong>. <\/strong>In order to make it visible in the daily meals of Brazilians, the Agrarian Development Ministry (MDA)<\/strong> has <\/strong>created the Identification Seal for Family Farming Participation (\u201cSIPAF\u201d)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Finally, representing the exhibitors present at BioFach 2011, Jedielson de Jesus Oliveira, Representative of Copoam \u2013 Par\u00e1, and Terezinha Maria de Oliveira Medeiros, Representative of Coopercaju \u2013 Rio Grande do Norte, will speak about the paths they have followed in the organic market.<\/p>\n

The Agrarian Development Ministry will take to Nuremberg cooperatives capable of exporting and that work with products such as cocoa, coffee, cashew nuts, honey, umbu<\/em>, cacha\u00e7a<\/em>, sugar and guarana.<\/p>\n

This Seminar has the support of the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin, which will be represented by Leonardo Cleaver de Athayde, Head of the Commercial Promotion Sector.
