Afonso Florence, Minister of Agricultural Development) received Claudio Langone (representing Min. of Sports), Arnoldo de Campos (Income and Value Added Director - Ministry of Agrarian Development) and Maria Beatriz Martins Costa (Planeta Org\u00e2nico\u2019s Director) in a meeting to introduce Organic and Sustainable World Cup initiative in Brazil. <\/p><\/div>\n

The core group \u201cOrganic and Sustainable World Cup\u201d (Copa Org\u00e2nica e Sustentavel), coordinated by Ministry of Agrarian Develpment, is conducting meetings with the Ministries, introducing initiatives that will be part of the Sustainable and Organic Cup. Meetings with the Ministries of Agricultural Development, Sports, Tourism, Social Development and Hunger Defeat, Environment, Agriculture and Food Supplies have been held. Planeta Org\u00e2nico and is a member of the core group of \u201cOrganic and Sustainable World Cup\u201d (Copa Org\u00e2nica e Sustentavel).<\/span><\/p>\n

On December 8, 2011, a dinner\u00a0was held\u00a0in S\u00e3o\u00a0Paulo\u00a0in which\u00a0the initiative of the Organic and\u00a0Sustainable World\u00a0Cup\u00a0campaign was presented. The event was sponsored by N\u00facleo Tem\u00e1tico Copa Org\u00e2nica e Sustent\u00e1vel, and organized by the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MDA), Planeta Org\u00e2nico and IPD, part of N\u00facleo Tem\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n

Arnoldo Campos, Director of Income and Value Added Dept. of Ministry of Agrarian Develpoment, presented the campaing proposal.<\/p>\n

More than 60 representatives from the organic and the sustainable sectors attended the event.<\/p>\n

Companies with a\u00a0strong presence\u00a0in the organic sector such\u00a0as P\u00e3o de A\u00e7\u00facar, Native, M\u00e3e Terra, and certified companies such as IBD and Ecocert, as well as ABIS (Brazilian Association of\u00a0Ice-Cream\u00a0Industry) supported the proposal of the Organic and Sustainable World Cup.<\/p>\n

Alexandre Borges, Director of M\u00e3e Terra, said: “M\u00e3e Terra wants to help thousands of consumers to have the option of eating organic and healthy products during the World Cup 2014. So, our challenge will be to have \u201cconsumer ready\u201d and \u201ctasty\u201d organic products at disposition. The above mentioned dinner\u00a0had the responsibility of\u00a0laying the foundation to start up a project, not only relevant for\u00a0the industry but also for Brazil\u00a0during the World Cup. I left the dinner table full of hope, knowing that we will perform a \u201cball show\u201d with the Brazilian organic and sustainable products.”<\/p>\n

Businessman\u00a0Nardi\u00a0Davidsohn, part owner\u00a0of the restaurant where\u00a0the dinner\u00a0was held, discussed with Arnoldo\u00a0Campos\u00a0about his interest in taking his restaurant, Quintal dos Org\u00e2nicos, to other cities in\u00a0Brazil.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0President of\u00a0ABIS\u00a0(Brazilian Association of\u00a0Ice Cream\u00a0Industry) Eduardo\u00a0Weisberg was also present\u00a0at this dinner\u00a0and he expressed his support\u00a0to the initiative: \u201cIt was great to be part of the launch of the Organic and Sustainable World Cup Project.I understand\u00a0that the Government\u00a0is on track\u00a0with the creation of\u00a0a\u00a0multi-disciplinary association\u00a0that leads\u00a0the organization\u00a0and the actions of\u00a0Organic and\u00a0Sustainable\u00a0Cup. Brazil is a unique country and, I am pretty sure it is also well-organized. We will create an event that will have a positive impact on the world. I am enthusiastic\u00a0and already\u00a0consider myself\u00a0a\u00a0partner in this endeavor. Congratulations to the Federal Government, organic IPD and Planeta Org\u00e2nico for this brilliant initiative\u201d, said Eduardo Weisberg.<\/p>\n
