Tradition and technology for great results

1 – Why Free Soybean?

Soja Livre (Free Soybean) emerged as a program to supply Mato Grosso’s producers in search for a greater diversity of cultivars from the conventional seed.

The program increases the supply of non-GMO soybean varieties, using high technology, quality, yield and characteristics suited to the soybean producers’ needs.

The conventional cultivation – successful for more than 35 years in Brazil – provides an opportunity of differentiation and to add value to production and exports.

Main Goals:

Increasing the supply of non-GMO soybean seeds and its access to farmers;

Developing and strengthening partnerships in order to transfer Embrapa’s non-GMO soybean cultivars’ technology;

Increasing the supply of non-GMO soybeans to the crushing industry.

It is necessary for the Soja Livre (Free Soybean) Program to:

Guarantee the soybean producer access to different technological options that are available;

Uphold the sector’s competitiveness;

Regulate the market with sustainability, increasing the produce’s technical and economical independence.

2 – Alliances and partnerships: The productive sector’s strength

The non-GMO soybean market has been settling itself as a profitable option for Mato Grosso’s farmers. The challenge is to expand the supply of conventional seeds in order to increase competitiveness.

Soja Livre (Free Soybean) is going to present non-GMO cultivars developed by Embrapa, a leading enterprise in tropical soybean technology, increasing the supply of conventional varieties from different cycles to meet the needs of Mato Grosso’s soybean producers. Soja Livre (Free Soybean) Program partner industries are going to establish a traceability, segregation and production going to establish a traceability, segregation and production certification system, without costs for the producers.

The program is a result of partnerships between different agents in the soybean supply chain. The outcome of this union will be the production of non genetically modified soybeans, which is able to meet the needs of the most demanding markets worldwide.

3 – Freedom is conquered by union

Abrange, Aprosoja and Embrapa united themselves in order to stimulate the production of non genetically modified soybeans.

The Soja Livre (Free Soybean) Project emerged with the support of Aprosmat and the Rio Verde Foundations, Sponsored by the Triângulo, Cerrados and Bahia Foundations, as well as the AMaggi, Caramuru and Imcopa groups.

Soja Livre (Free Soybean) is going to present new cultivars and improve the supply of non-GMO seeds and technologies – modern and highly productive-adding more value to all the supply chain.

Brazil has the largest and best genetic basis for the development of new non-GMO soybean seeds. This is Brazilian technology, serving the interests of producers, in order to meet the needs of increasingly demanding markets.

4 – Non-GMO Soybean renders the former free

Free to choose his soybean cultivars and production technologies;

Free to undertake his own comparative analysis of production costs of other technologies;

Free to meet the requirements of highly demanding consumer markets;

Free to negotiate his production in search for greater profit.

5 – The Soja Livre (Free Soybean) Program

Soja Livre (Free Soybean) renders available information and stimulates the Supply of non-GMO soybean cultivars, which distinguish themselves in experiments conducted by Embrapa in Mato Grosso.

These cultivars are developed, multiplied and commercialized by means of partnerships with Research Foundations and its seed breeders.

This is Brazilian technology conquering the world in a socially, economical and environmentally sustainable way.
