GREEN RIO 2017 CONSOLIDATES ITS POSITION

The exhibition duo BIOFACH, the World’s leading Trade Fair for Organic Food, and VIVANESS, the International Trade Fair for Natural Personal Care, have been able to set a new record in 2017 by achieving the 50,000 visitor mark. This time, expert visitors travelled from 134 countries to the Nuremberg meeting place.

GERMAN GOVERNMENT WILL ORGANIZE A BIOECONOMY WORKSHOP IN GREEN RIO 2017

 

At  a meeting held on January 18, 2017, at the German Agriculture Ministry in Berlin, it was agreed that there will be a Bioeconomy Workshop, about partnership opportunities between Brazil and Germany in Bioeconomy, during the Green Rio / Green Latin America 2017. The workshop organization is from the German Government.

PLANETA ORGÂNICO STARTS PROMOTING GREEN RIO / GREEN LATIN AMERICA 2017 IN FRANCE, GERMANY AND THE UNITED STATES

 

From 11 to 13 May 2017, the sixth edition of the trade fair and conference Green Rio will take place at Marina da Gloria, Rio de Janeiro. For the first time, it will be co-located with Green Latin America, bringing together participants from different countries. The organizer, Planeta Orgânico, starts promoting the events during October and November in France, Germany and the United States.

A Bioeconomy representative from the German Agriculture Ministry, entrepreneurs, University researchers and journalists were present.

On March 3, 2016, a panel on “Brazil, Biodiversity, Bioeconomy” was held at the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin.

Ambassador Maria Luiza Viotti opened the panel by welcoming the audience and highlighting the opportunities that exist for partnerships between Brazil and Germany in the Bioeconomy scenario.

The SEBRAE Structuring Project for Amazon Forest-based Cosmetics carried out an International Mission in Italy (Cosmoprof Fair) and in France, in March 2016.
SEBRAE Amazonas’ Director-Superintendent, Aécio Ferreira da Silva, was the head of this delegation, which was composed of representatives from six States in the Amazon region: Amazonas (Wanderléia Oliveira, Ligia Silva and Maria José Alves), Acre (Dikison Rodrigues), Amapá (Lindetti Ferreira), Pará (José Antono Dias), Roraima (Rodrigo da Rosa) and Tocantins (Flavia Bolsonaro).

On October 15 and 16, 2015, Rio de Janeiro became a center for the discussion of the themes that concern entrepreneurial, political and institutional leaders in Latin America. On those dates, the 26th Annual Conference of the Latin American Entrepreneurial Council (CEAL), the continent’s largest and most representative entrepreneurial and political meeting, was held. This year, its central theme was “Borderless America”, and it brought together approximately 300 Latin American and European leaders, including 80 speakers and debaters, taking into account authorities, CEOs, and political and institutional leaders from several areas and from the whole continent.

CULTIVATING GOOD WATER (“CAB”): BRAZILIAN PROGRAM IS CHOSEN BY UN AS THE BEST WATER MANAGEMENT PRACTICE

 

 

The Water for Life award will be handed to directors of Itaipu Binacional at the UN Headquarters, in New York, on March 30 next. This was announced last Friday. Just before World Water Day (March 22), and at a time of water scarcity in several regions of Brazil, causing an impact on the supply of water and on electric power production, a Brazilian initiative was selected by the United Nations Organization (UN) as the best water resources management policy on the planet. It is the Cultivating Good Water Program (Cultivando Água Boa – CAB), developed by Itaipu Binacional and more than two thousand partners in the Paraná 3 Basin, in the Western region of the State of Paraná.

Cooperation with German Government strengthens sustainable production, environmental monitoring and conservation practices

 


 

The Rio de Janeiro State Government and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany signed a cooperation agreement to implement the project “Integration of Eco-technologies and Services for Sustainable Rural Development in Rio de Janeiro” (Intecral). The German Government will invest approximately US$ 4.2 million in research and technical solutions to improve productivity of small farms at, North, Northwest, Serrana Region and Coastal Floodplains of Rio de Janeiro.

RIO RURAL PROGRAMME – GREEN ECONOMY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN MICRO-WATERSHEDS OF RIO DE JANEIRO

 

The Rio Rural Programme promotes sustainable development in rural areas of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the objective of empowering family farmers, raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting their social and productive inclusion, so they can act as main partners in the sustainable management of natural resources and eco-friendly agriculture. The programme is implemented by the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock of Rio de Janeiro, with funding from GEF (2006-2011), the World Bank (2010-2018), federal and stage programmers and private sector. Rio Rural integrates income generation, food security and good governance strategies with support adoption of sustainable management practices that can provide environmental services: soil conservation and water protection, carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation.
